England forward Lauren James has been given a two-match ban by the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) for the red card against Nigeria.

The 21-year-old was sent off in the Round of 16 encounter at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup for stamping on Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie.

England progressed to the quarterfinals 4-2 on penalties.

The dismissal came with an automatic one-game ban, which FIFA has increased, meaning she will miss the semi-final if England get there.

The Lionesses will face Colombia in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

James has so far scored three goals and provided three assists in the competition.
