UEFA Hands Real Madrid Nigerian Midfielder Marvin Goal Of The Tournament Award

20 year old Real Madrid midfielder of Nigerian descent Marvin Olawale Akinlabi Park has been handed the award of the best goal of the tournament in the last edition of UEFA Youth League.

The midfielder finished off a fine team move with a sweeping finish against Inter Milan in a 3-0 win in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

He played for 65 minutes in the final as Real Madrid emerged as champions with a 3-2 win over their counterparts from Benfica in the tournament meant for players under the age of 19.

Already he has been integrated into the first team of the club by coach Zinedine Zidane and he made his debut in the 0-0 draw against Real Madrid, a debut which could spark a scramble for his international future.

So far he has played just once for the U19 team of Spain keeping him eligible to switch to either Nigeria or South Korea, the two countries his parents come from although he was born in Spain.
