Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, has compared Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland to former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Henry believes Haaland is similar to Van Nistelrooy, adding that the 20-year-old has a killer’s instinct when it comes to scoring goals.

Haaland has scored 33 goals in 30 games in all competitions for Dortmund so far this season.

The Norwegian has drawn the interest of many top European clubs including Manchester United, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus.

When Jamie Carragher asked Henry on Sky Sports whether he felt Haaland was comparable to Van Nistelrooy, Henry replied: “Yes. Yes, him, Van Nistelrooy was a great goalscorer.

“Not so much in our day but Pele, the desire that they have. They want to kill. They want to be in the box.

“They look at the defenders. You won’t be able to live with me. I’m waiting for those crosses.

“I can see sometimes when the midfielders don’t give him the ball, that looks you give to your midfielders or defenders: are you going to give me the ball?

“I’ve had enough, I want to score now. I want to make the team win. I can see that with him.”
