Scorer of Nigeria’s lone goal in yesterday’s 2022 AFCON qualifiers game against Benin Republic Paul Onuachu has thanked the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria for his support.
Onuachu ended his run of no goals in eight games for Nigeria with a header in the final minute of time added on to hand all three points to Nigeria.
Originally named on the standby list he was upgraded into the main list after Nantes forward Moses Simon was ruled out of the game by his club.
Rohr trusted the forward nonetheless and introduced him when they were searching for a goal and he didn’t disappoint as he ended up scoring the winner.
“ The coach never lost faith in me even when I wasn’t scoring and some people put him under pressure to drop me. I really want to thank him and hopefully this is the first of many goals I will score for the team in subsequent games by the grace of God”, he told Owngoalnigeria.com
