A female student of Egba Odeda Secondary School in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State was reportedly crushed to death on Thursday by a hit and run driver.

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) confirmed the incident on Thursday evening.

According to TRACE spokesman, Babatunde Akinbiyi, the incident occurred around 2:45pm at Beni village, Oko Oloshi, along the Abeokuta-Ibadan highway.

Akinbiyi stated that the schoolgirl was hit when she and other students were about to cross the road as they were returning from school.

It was said that the driver of the vehicle did not stop to take responsibility as the girl died in a pool of her blood on the spot.

Akinbiyi disclosed that the body of the deceased schoolgirl was deposited at the morgue of Ogun State General Hospital in Odeda.

While sympathising with the family of the deceased, Akinbiyi advised school pupils to be more vigilant when using the road.
