Nigeria international striker Emmanuel Dennis missed out on the award of player of the season at relegated English Premier League side Watford following the announcement of the winner for the award.

In an official statement on the website of the club, Ivory Coast defender Hassane Kamara who only joined the club six months ago was voted by the fans as the player of the season. Goalkepper Ben Foster finished second with Dennis who was the team’s top scorer with ten goals voted as third best player.

“Grateful for this trophy,” Kamara wrote on his Twitter handle. “Thanks a lot to the Watford fans, you deserve so much better.”

Kamara winning the award came as a shock to many people as Dennis was seen as the one positive from what was a poor season overall for the hornets. The Nigerian is even seen as one of the break out star of the about to be concluded English Premier League season.

He is expected to depart the club in the summer with his representatives already sounding out teams over his availability. So far there have been rumoured interest from La Liga side Villarreal but it is believed that Dennis want to remain in England.
