Ronaldo ‘offered’ record deal after Man United transfer request – Sporting Life

Cristiano Ronaldo has received an enormous offer from an unnamed club in Saudi Arabia, according to reports.

The Manchester United forward is believed to want to leave Old Trafford only a year after his emotional return to the club with which he made his name and has not travelled on their tour of Thailand and Australia.

Ronaldo scored 18 Premier League goals during an otherwise miserable season at United and has been offered to Chelsea through intermediaries.

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, have publicly ruled themselves out of contention to sign him, while United manager Erik Ten Hag has stressed the 37-year-old is not for sale.

According to CNN Portugal, a Saudi Arabian club have offered Ronaldo a contract worth €250m (£211m), a deal that would make him the highest-paid player in history.

One of the major reasons the Portugal captain is believed to have asked to leave United, however, is his desire to win major European trophies during the final few years of his career, so it is unclear as to whether or not Ronaldo would even consider the move.

United have endured a frustrating summer transfer window but have added to their squad in the form of Feyenoord left-back, Tyrell Malacia.

Ten Hag is also keen on a move for Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez and United are confident of beating Arsenal to a deal for the Argentine international.
