Land dispute: Two die in Niger community

Two persons were said to have been killed in a land dispute between Kambari and Fulani in Salka in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.

The development led to the burning down of a police station, District Head Palace as well as fewer than 30 Fulani huts.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Monday.

Eyewitness said trouble started following an argument over ownership of the alleged parcel of land of which a Fulani man injured a villager (Kambari ) with a cutlass.

The source explained that as a result of that, a fight ensued between both sides that resulted in the death of two persons.

Our correspondent gathered that the land in question became a subject of controversy.

Confirming the incident, the Secretary to the State Government SSG, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, decried the development, saying security has been deployed to the area to restore peace and stability.

Also, when contacted the Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Services, Emmanuel Umar, said the state government is on top of the situation in order to restore peace in the area.
