10th NASS: Betara condoles family of deceased Taraba member-elect, Maihanchi

Lawmaker, Muktar Betara Aliyu has condoled the family of his late colleague, Ismaila Yushau Maihanchi in Jalingo, Taraba State.

Betara, a contender for the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, paid the condolence visit in the company of about 60 old and new members-elect from the green chamber.

It will be recalled that Maihanchi, elected to represent Jalingo, Yorro, Zing Federal Constituency of the state in the 2023 election, died last Saturday in Abuja following a brief illness.

In a statement by his media office, Betara, who is the current Chairman, House Committee on Appropriations, expressed grief over the incident and described the deceased as “a brother and friend.”

He said, “Myself and the team of my colleagues paid a condolence visit to the family of our beloved colleague, late Hon. Isma’ila Yashua Maihanchi.

“I want to sincerely appreciate the over 60 Honourable House of Representatives members who took time and accompanied me, despite their busy schedule.”

“We met with the wife of the late member and his parents and offered prayers for the family of the deceased and the repose of the deceased’s soul.

The lawmaker promised the wife of the deceased and his aged parents his support for their family and the children’s welfare.
