
The top scorer for French Ligue 2 side Bordeaux has played down reports linking him with a move away from the club in the summer transfer window after a fine run in front of goal.
Maja who has one cap for Nigeria is leaking Bordeaux’s charge back into the top division of French football with 16 goals and five assists in 33 matches, largely why they occupy the final spot for automatic qualification which is 2nd, three points ahead of third places Metz.
His contract will run out in the summer but it carries a clause which says his deal with automatically be extended by one year if the team gains promotion back to Ligue 1. Asked about his future he replied thus: “My goal is to go to Ligue 1 and after that, we will see what will happen”,he replied.
While admitting that this season is his best since his move to the French side, the 24 year old said there is still a lot to play for this season and he has his sights on doing even better in the remaining games of the season.
“It’s the most consistent season, the best since I’ve been in Bordeaux. I play my football, we play well and we win matches, so I hope we will continue”. It’s a good season, we’re in a good place. We try to take three points in each game to go to the end.
