Katsina: Police arrest Sabon Jini over murder of Dutsinma Area Commander

The Katsina State Police Command has announced the arrest of a key suspect linked to the brutal murder of Area Commander Dutsinma, ACP Aminu Umar, and another police officer in an ambush on July 4, 2022, along Zakka Forest, Safana LGA of Katsina State.

The Spokesman, Katsina Police Command, ASP Sadiq Abubakar, who disclosed this at a press conference on Thursday, while parading the suspect, said the suspect’s arrest was in connection with the recent kidnapping of one Hussaini Nabara of Kagara Village, Dutsin-ma LGA.

According to Sadiq, its operatives secured the arrest of the 30-year-old fugitive, identified as Said Yaro, also known as “Sabon Jini,” acting on credible intelligence.

The captured fugitive, he said, has been a notorious criminal on the police wanted list for offenses ranging from kidnapping, cattle rustling, among other heinous crimes.

During the investigation, Yaro confessed to his involvement in the orchestrated ambush that led to the tragic deaths of Area Commander Dutsinma, ACP Aminu Umar, and another brave officer. Yaro revealed that he had conspired with other criminals under the command of Abubakar Jankare, another notorious bandit leader who are currently at large. Also recovered from the fugitive in the course of the investigation were cache of arms and ammunition.

The Katsina State Police Command states that it remains resolute in its dedication to ensuring that all those involved in this shocking incident face the full force of the law.

The Command also called on residents in the state to remain vigilant and cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies in their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
