Peseiro Agrees To Take Over As Coach Of Zamalek, Wants Twice His Pay As Super Eagles Coach

The coach of the senior national team of Nigeria has verbally agreed to take over as the new coach of Egyptian side Zamalek, a move which will see him quit his role as coach of the Super Eagles.

We gathered, the deal is being held up due to a disparity in what the Portuguese wants as his monthly pay and what the club is willing to offer. An agreement on the pay is far from being reached but talks have so far progressed nicely.

Peseiro is under intense pressure following a poor start to the 2026 world cup qualifiers, with Nigeria drawing 1-1 against Lesotho and Zimbabwe respectively. A result that has left them third in group C behind South Africa and leaders Rwanda.

His contract with the senior national team of Nigeria will expire after the Africa Cup of Nations next year in Cote d’Ivoire after it was renewed to cover the period of the tournament. His pay was slashed from $70,000 to $50,000 a month.

He is said to be demanding twice his pay with Nigeria which is $100,000, before he will officially take over as coach of the Egyptian, an amount the club finds as exorbitant despite making him the prime target for the vacant managerial position at the club .
