He Is The Favorite – NFF Chief Opens Up On Belgian Tactician Replacing Jose Peseiro As Super Eagles Coach

The chances of Jose Peseiro staying on as the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria has taken a huge knock with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) already on the look out for his replacement, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Peseiro’s deal will run out after the Africa Cup of Nations but it will be extended if the team makes it to the final of the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire next year. From the look of things even if he meets that clause, he will likely not be retained.

A chieftain of the NFF in an exclusive chat with OwnGoalNigeria.comafter our report on Tom Saintfiet as the leading candidate for the job opened up and said contacts has been made by all parties involved.

” I won’t tell you we are not interested in Saintfiet or that your report is wrong but you probably jump the gun. He ( Saintfiet) is actually our prime target but nothing is advanced yet because we have a coach at the helm. Contacts have been made but nothing concrete”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com on the condition of anonymity.

” He isn’t the only coach we have in mind but he is the front runner because he is currently active, understands the terrain and the teams a lot. Did very well with an unfacied team at the last AFCON and above all he is very keen to work with the Super Eagles.

” A lot of Nigerians don’t really know how much of a hard worker he is and if we succeed in bringing him he won’t only be cheaper to pay, he will also be more dedicated to the job than any other coach we have had in the past”, he concluded.
