As many as 30 out of the 60 players selected by coach of the Nigeria U17 team Fatai Amoo have failed the Magnetic Imaging Resonance (MRI) test meant to reduce the menace of age cheat at under 17 level.

Owngoanigeria.com gathered that the result of the test has decimated the camp of the team and also put the coaches under pressure as they bid to raise a formidable team for the WAFU B championship.

“ It’s no good news at all. We have lost some key players but that is why we pencilled down as many as 60 players in our initial list. Now we have lost 50% of the players to the MRI Test with little or no time to replace them”, a backroom staff told Owngoalnigeria.com.

“ The new rule is making things worst as if one player fails the test that will be done by CAF before the tournament starts the team as a whole will be disqualified. So we have to drop even those on the borderline”.

Nigeria will face West Africa rivals Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire In the group stage of the tournament which has been postponed to the 5th of January and it will run till the 20th of same month.

Benin Republic will host the tournament which will serve as qualifiers for the 2021 U17 Africa Cup of Nations set to take place in Morocco next year.
