Al-Nassr midfielder, Jaloliddin Masharipov has opened up on the controversy regarding Cristiano Ronaldo and Vincent Aboubakar following the Portuguese’s arrival at the Saudi Arabian club.

The arrival of Ronaldo at the club came with its fair share of controversy, one of which made Aboubakar leave immediately.

The Cameroon International had his contract with the mega-rich club terminated following Ronaldo’s arrival.

The 30-year-old Cameroonian eventually joined the Turkish club Beşiktaş.

And now Masharipov has made an interesting claim regarding what truly happened.

In an interview with SportsUz, the 29-year-old Uzbekistan international revealed that the club actually wanted Aboubakar to stay.

“If Vincent wanted to stay, he would have stayed. He just left to avoid being benched. I think he took it for granted.

“When Cristiano arrived, he felt that he would fall into the background. Therefore he left Al-Nassr as soon as a good offer came in. I don’t think there was any scandalous situation.”
