Spanish second division side Almeria have through official channel confirmed the invitation of their top striker Sadiq Umar to the senior national team of Nigeria for the first time.
Sadiq who has sixteen goals this season with fourteen coming in the league and two in Copa Del Rey will be among the players who will prosecute the AFCON 2022 qualifiers games for Nigeria against Benin Republic and Lesotho respectively.
The club announced that due to the invitation, Sadiq will miss two league matches which is the game at home to Leganes and the away tie against Malaga as they continue their push for promotion back to the La Liga.
His invitation will also see him lose ground on his quest to finish as top scorer in the league with Sporting Gijon Djuka currently leading the race with 17 goals, three more than Sadiq who is third behind Raul de Tomas of Espanyol who is second in the top scorers race.
