Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) state congress scheduled for Saturday, October 16 in Osun, The Osun Progressives (TOP), a caucus of the party in the state has released the timetable for the state congress and swearing-in of ward and local government executives.
According to a statement that was obtained by thedabigal Saturday and made available by its Chairman, Adelowo Adebiyi, the event which was scheduled to start by 10am will take place at the Open Space, opposite LadSol Water factory, Gbongan-Ibadan road, Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo.
Meanwhile, thedabigal had reported that the Osun State Congress Committee, on Friday had released an order for the conduct of the exercise.
The State Congress Committee Secretary, Sunday Akere, in a statement in Osogbo, had stated that the congress will be held at the Osogbo city stadium, Osogbo, from 10 am on Saturday.
In the statement, participants expected at the congress will include five delegates elected at the Ward Congress held recently and ratified by the Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the party.
Others expected at the congress, according to the Akere ward include statutory delegates as stipulated in the party’s constitution and the guidelines for the congress.
The Secretary of the committee revealed that it has invited security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to monitor the exercise.
The Chairman of the National Congress Committee to Osun, Gbenga Elegbeleye on his arrival to Osogbo, Friday night also stated that the Committee would do all within the prescription of the law to ensure peaceful conduct.
Elegbeleye added that the Committee had been armed with necessary materials to ensure a transparent and open exercise that would be accepted by all.
He assured that they are determined to ensure a free, fair, credible and acceptable exercise.
