ARSENAL’S UNAI RENNAISSANCE

The football transfer window is in its full swing and has been for a while now, clubs all over Europe are jostling for in-demand professional football players to shore up and improve their various teams for a hectic football season ahead, thereby bringing out their figurative trolleys, wallets, or as the case may seem for top European clubs, open cheque books.

English premiership heavyweights, Arsenal are no different, quite expectedly though the north London club are clearly among the major acquirers in the transfer window so far, and with the departure of longtime manager ARSENE WENGER and an admittedly woeful just concluded season which saw the club finish outside the top four(4) for a second year running, who could blame them.

The employment of former PSG and Sevilla coach Unai Emery had brought down the curtain on a 22year old managerial stay of the Frenchman, his predecessor ARSENE WENGER and has thrown the club unto an unfamiliar territory. The post-wenger era has gone off to a good start though with Arsenal and Unai Emery dipping into the transfer market with five(5) new much-needed  acquisitions, goalkeeper Leno, experienced defenders Lichtenstein, Sokratis and midfielders Lucas toreira and Guendoezi.

The gunners boss has been stamping his authority on his new team at the training camp in Singapore and things has been going well. There has been  a sense of freshness that is unmistakable. Sometimes last season the players seemed to be going through the motions somewhat but that certainly doesn’t feel the case anymore.

With the early additions to the team in admittedly positions that has caused problems to the Arsenal cause in the past, it seems the Arsenal manager, Unai Emery , has discovered the Achilles heel of the Arsenal team in the past and has moved swiftly to address it.

With more additions in the shape of a right-sided winger and even more defensive midield additions in the shape of Sevilla and France national team destroyer Nzonzi, still being talked about, added to the undeniably tantalising attacking front line of Ozil, Mkhitryan, Lacazette  and Pierre-emerick-Aubameyang which on its day is capable of splitting apart any team in world football, it is quite clear that an exciting season( albeit strange one without Wenger in the dugout) lies in prospect and the Arsenal team could possibly be one of the few teams to challenge last season’s runaway league winners Manchester city in the new premier league season  all the way come May
