Nigerian lawyer and activist, Reno Omokri, has called out Multichoice’s Digital Satelite Television for assigning the 419 channel to Nigerian government-owned broadcast station, Nigerian Television Authority.

Assigning channel 419 to NTA degrading, Reno Omokri knocks Multichoice

Reno claimed that the allocation of the frequency channel 419 to NTA was intentional and not a mere coincidence as the owner wanted Nigerians to believe.

According to him, it was DSTV’s way of mocking and demarketing Nigeria.

The iconic number “419” refers to the section of the Nigerian Criminal code dealing with fraud and the charges for offenders.

As a result, Nigerians refer to any form of financial fraud or scam as ‘419.’

Reno said that DSTV assigning channel 419 to NTA ‘carries a very powerful subliminal message.’
