Fresh from scoring his debut goal in the LaLiga, little known Nigerian forward Samuel Omorodion Aghehowa has joined Atletico Madrid from Granada, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports .
The 19 year old made a huge impression on the coach of Atletico Madrid Diego Simeone with his all round style last weekend, which he capped with a goal in what was his first appearance in the Spanish top flight.
After seeing this commanding performance, Simeone wasted no time in sanctioning a move for the physical built forward by triggering his release clause of €6m. Four months after he extended his deal at Granada till the summer of 2028.
Granada had plans of keeping Omorodion in the first team this year after his explosive performance for the youth team last year which we reported, and his clause would have risen to €40m in 2024.
However Atletico Madrid wasted no time in making their intentions known immediately after the game on Monday, by informing his agent Juanma Lopez former Atletico Madrid defender that they will be keen on triggering his release clause now. Lopez who is also the agent of Alvaro Morata helped in putting the deal motion.
