Attempts on my life will not deter me from C’River governorship – Usani

Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Usani has dismissed fears that he may no longer prosecute his governorship ambition following several alleged attempts at his life.

It would be recalled that over a week ago, gunmen narrowly missed killing him on the Ikom-Calabar highway on his way to his hometown in Nko community of Yakurr LGA of Cross River State.

Another alleged attempt happened on his arrival at his community residence, where a big snake was spotted at his doorstep, purportedly to attack him.

September last year, the PRP gubernatorial candidate sent a petition to the state police commissioner, raising the alarm about his safety.

In a statement signed by his media chief, David Agabi, it said: “Consequent upon the recent attempts on the life of our Governorship Candidate, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, we hereby reaffirm his total involvement in the 2023 governorship election against insinuations that he has withdrawn from the race.

“The public is advised not to be misguided by deliberate acts of distractions.”

Usani had earlier dismissed another insinuation that his party is not rated amongst the three more popular political parties.

“Is it not the politicians that make up any political parties? For me, it is the person running the election that matters most not the names of parties. After all, is it not the same types of people that dominate the so-called two biggest parties and they continually rotate themselves?

“For me, it is my person, contents and my programmes that stand me out of the pack.”
