Our star celebrity of the week is a highly celebrated Nigerian Movie Director, Screenwriter and Producer. He is fondly referred to by most African film industry stakeholders as one of the champions of the emerging new African Cinema,none other than Mr. Ike Nnnaebue. He has a number of movies under his belt and for the past five years have worked with top Nigerian actors and actresses such as Uche Jombo,Kalu Ikeagwu,Yvonne jegede,Bolanle Ninalowo and a host of many others.
Ike’s first commercial film “FALSE” continues to generate lots of buzz within the film community and among African movie fans. FALSE which Ike wrote and directed was released in Oct 2013 and already won a Golden Icon Academy Award (GIAMA) out of the 3 nominations which the movie received. False went on to receive 12 nominations at Nollywood Movie Awards that same year, making it the highest nominated movie of the year.
Ike’s recent film, “Sink or Swim” won Best Narrative Feature 2017 Newark International Film Festival and has received several nominations and official selections at notable international film festivals around the globe.
Ike just finished a thrilling psychological drama titled “Loving Daniella” which he filmed at locations in three continents namely Lagos Nigeria, Las Vegas Usa and the beautiful island of Antigua.
“Loving Daniella” made the official selection for Las Vegas Black Film Festival and won the festival’s Best Actress Award out of three nominations.
Ike is the founder of Treasurewells Academy and the Host of Breaking into Nollywood with Ike Nnaebue Workshop which he has successfully hosted in Lagos, New York, Atlanta (twice) And Dallas (twice). He is also the founder and Creative Director for Passion8 Communications Ltd: a premium media content production company with offices in Lagos Nigeria and Atlanta USA.
