Bandits on Tuesday attacked and killed six vigilantes members at the Awaro checkpoint in the Western part of Birnin-Gwari of Kaduna State.
Speaking with newsmen in Kaduna, on Wednesday, a member of the vigilante in the area, Usman Babangida, said the bandits attacked the checkpoint on Tuesday around 4pm.
He said the bandits were passing through the Awaro checkpoint around 400pm and attacked the vigilantes stationed there upon sighting them.
He said they killed all the six vigilantes members, adding that some villagers discovered their dead bodies and reported to the authority before they were all conveyed to the town for identification.
He further added that the killed vigilantes have since been buried.
