Bandits sack Taraba community, kill one, injure others

Rampaging bandits have reportedly attacked and dislodged the Didango community in Taraba State.

The community, which is located in Karim-Lamido Local Government Council of the state, was confirmed to have been attacked Wednesday night by unknown gunmen.

Though sources from the area who spoke with thedabigal, said no fewer than two people were killed, the Taraba State Police Command said only one casualty was recorded.

Confirming the report on Thursday through the command spokesperson, Abdullahi Usman, the suspects, were said to have invaded the community in their larger numbers on Wednesday night.

He said, “We received information that there was an attack on Didango village of Karim-Lamido by unknown gunmen last night, leaving one person dead and five others severely injured.”

At the time of filing this report, two of the suspected gunmen were confirmed by the command to have been arrested in connection with the attacks.

The command, which also confirmed that investigation has commenced into the attacks, added that the arrested suspects have begun to dish out useful information to the police.
