Barcelona can’t find suitor for Bosnian star as Mourinho rejects Pjanic

Miralem Pjanic isn’t in Ronald Koeman’s plans for the upcoming season at Barcelona, and the club are keen to move him on as quickly as possible.

The 31-year-old hardly played at all in the second half of the last campaign, with Serie A viewed as a good destination for the Bosnian after his successful period at Juventus.

The Bianconeri have closed the door on a return, but another of Pjanic’s former clubs in Roma were closely monitoring him as they look to strengthen under new coach Jose Mourinho.

However, Mourinho has said the transfer will not happen, with money being the main issue. This is the main problem Barcelona have had while trying to find Pjanic a new club.

Pjanic earns 15 million euros gross per season, which not many clubs are willing to pay, especially for a player who barely featured last season. The reduced physicality of Italian football does suit his game, but his high salary has been a major stumbling block.

Barcelona understand that no one will be willing to pay his 45 million euro transfer fee in the current market, so they are therefore willing to loan him out as they look to recoup some money from his salary.
