Spanish giants Barcelona have opened talks with Almeria over the loan signing of their Nigerian striker Sadiq Umar, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
As first reported by Diariogol, Barcelona new coach Xavi Hernandez have identified the Nigerian as a player he wants to revamp the attack of the team following the health issue of Sergio Kun Aguero.
Xavi needs another striker with Martin Braithwaite also out injured and the coach have already told the club he doesn’t need striker Luuk de Jong paving way for a January exit for the forward who was signed in the summer.
Almeria want a fee in the region of over 30 million euros for the 24 year old who was their top scorer last season and have started this season same way he ended last season.
A representative of the forward told OwnGoalNigeria.com that contact have been made but he has fears that Almeria will reject the loan offer as they are presently top of the second division.
Their aim of getting back to the La Liga will be affected if they allow the lanky forward leave the team in January. Nonetheless Barcelona are still pushing and are willing to even include an option to sign him permanently.
