Bayer Leverkusen secured their second straight win in the group stage of the Europa League with a 2-1 win away to Norwegian side Molde, a win that saw them move to the top of their group, OwnGoalNigeria.comreports.
Jeremie Frimpong put the Xabi Alonso led side ahead in the 14th minute of play, a lead which they doubled four minutes later through their big money summer signing Nathan Tella, Emil Breivik gave fans of the home side something to cheer when he struck in the 87 minutes, but it ended up as consolation.
Tella has been in the news lately particularly in the Nigerian media space following his interview, where he declared his eagerness to represent Nigeria despite his eligibility for England.
The 24 year old told German publication Bild, that he will jump at the chance of playing for Super Eagles if called up by the present coach of the team Jose Peseiro.
“If I get the chance to play for Nigeria, I would be more than happy and would accept it. I have also already told my parents and friends that I would do this”, he said.
“You won’t just be nominated, you have to work out and earn it. I want to prove myself here if I get the chance to play. I would like to develop myself further, help the team and the club – should a call come for an international vocation, that would be a bonus.”
“I have always said in the last three or four years that Nigeria is a big part of my life – even though I have been an ‘England boy’ from London all my life.”
