German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are still in the market for a defensive midfielder to add to the sqaud of coach Thomas Tuchel despite an impressive start to the season, OwnGoalNigeria.comunderstands.
A deal for Fulham star man João Palhinha was agreed but a dramatic twist of event saw the Portuguese return to the English side, where he has already signed a new deal until at least 2028 and the deal has no buy out clause.
It means any deal for the 28 year old will see both teams return to the negotiation table and Bayern are wary of what the Fulham might demand, especially the way they conducted themselves in the summer.
That has made a move for Leicester City Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi more pressing but with his deal set to run out next summer, Bayern are willing to wait in order to get him for free after their failed attempt in the summer as confirmed by his agent.
Ndidi’s agent Franjo Vranjkovic said to the ‘kicker’ at the time: “There were very good conversations with those responsible for FC Bayern at all levels, primarily with Mr. Jan-Christian Dreesen. In the end, however, there was the decision that Wilfred would not become the Holding Six at Bayern Munich”, he rounded up saying.
It was said that both parties agreed to revisit the issue next summer, when the Nigerian will be a free player but Bayern want an agreement in January, with the likes of Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Juventus also keeping an eye on the future of the 26 year old.
