President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday observed the Juma’at prayers in company of some Muslim faithful.
The prayer was held at the Aso Villa Mosque, following the opening of worship centres by the Nigerian government.
Authorities in the state House only allowed a few Muslim faithful into the Mosque in line with the directive and guideline of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, NAN reports.
NAN reports Muslim faithful in attendance were tested and sanitised against COVID-19 which was part of efforts to ensure safety around the Presidential Villa.
NAN further reports that the protocol of social distancing was also strictly observed in line with guidelines on public gathering, and only senior staff of the Villa were allowed to attend the prayer session.
The Federal Capital Territory Administration had earlier issued a statement on guidelines for the reopening of places of worship in the six Area Councils.
Recall that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha had disclosed the lifting of ban on religious gathering in the country.
Mustapha, however, threatened that the federal government would upturn its decision if religious leaders fail to adhere to strict guidelines laid down.
