Rivers United were at their ruthless best, handing Academica do Lobito of Angola a 3-0 defeat in Uyo on Sunday night.

The Nigerians got off to a perfect start when their Ghanaian import, Samuel Antwi, slotted the ball home from Paul Odeh’s cross in the third minute.

Odeh was on target two minutes after the break.

Stanley Eguma’s side put the game beyond the visitors, with Shedrack Asiegbu netting the third on the hour mark.

River United top the standings in Group C with three points, albeit on goal difference, ahead of Tunisian side Club Africain, who defeated Ghana’s Dreams FC 2-0 on Sunday night.

United will be away to Dreams FC at the Cape Coast Stadium next Sunday.
