Confederation of Africa Football has commenced an investigation into what led to the tragedy at Olembe Stadium during the Africa Cup of Nations fixture between hosts Cameroon and Comoros on Monday.
According to the CAF statement, the Africa football body is currently investigating the situation and trying to get more details on what transpired.
” We are in constant communication with Cameroon government and the Local Organizing Committee”, the statement said.
The CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe sent the General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba to visit the supporters in hospital in Yaoundé.

Cameroonian government had said that eight people have died and many were injured after a reported crush at the Africa Cup of Nations fixture on Monday.
It is unknown if the death toll could yet rise, with a government communication stating there were 38 people injured, seven of those seriously.
The incident took place as crowds tried to enter the Olembe Stadium for Cameroon’s 2-1 win.
Officials said that 50,000 people attended the match. The stadium, which was constructed for this tournament, has a capacity of 60,000. However, COVID-19 restrictions meant that it could only operate at 80 per cent capacity.
