Star of the national team of Cape Verde Steven Fortes says they will approach their reverse tie with Nigeria in Lagos with the mindset of getting a win like Central Africa Republic (CAR).
CAR caused a major upset when they defeated the Nigerian team 1-0 in Lagos but lost the reverse tie played in Cameroon. That win according to Fortes prove that the Nigerian team can be beaten.
Fortes say although the Super Eagles has the reputation of a better team in terms of players personell but in football everything is possible hence they are hopeful of beating the Super Eagles in November.
“It would be incredible to go to Qatar, but that’s a World Cup for any player. Everything is possible in football and we believe in it, CAR won in Lagos, the biggest names don’t always win”, Fortes said.
The game between the nations will be their final group games with Nigeria winning awy to Cape Verde and needing at least a draw in the game to seal a spot in the final round of the qualifiers.
