The captain of the senior national team of Switzerland Granit Xhaka has praised the invitation of his teammate Nathan Tella to the senior national team of Nigeria, where he made his debut in the world cup qualifiers.

Tella was born in England to parents of Nigerian descent making him eligible to play for both countries, he wasn’t capped at youth level by any of the nations until last week when he made his debut for the senior national team of Nigeria in the 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in the world cup qualifiers.

Before the international break he scored his first league goal for Bayer Leverkusen, the team he joined in the summer from Southampton and let left Xhaka full of joy not just for the goal but also the call up to the senior national team of Nigeria.

“First of all he is a lovely guy, has a lot of speed, great finishing,” the Switzerland international said on Oma Sports TV shortly after his team’s 4-0 win over Union Berlin.

“I’m so happy for him that he has decided to play for one country (Nigeria) and can play at this level.”
