Colombia begin on victory note

Columbia flagged out campaign in FIFA U-20 Women’s world Cup on high thanks to a lone goal victory over Germany Wednesday night. Mariana munoz Ramirez sealed victory for Colombia with her 87th minute goal which incidentally turned out to be the only goal of the match.

German striker Ria Clara Fröhlich, however, had a vital chance to cut Colombia’s lead in the extra time but she failed to dodge the latter’s goalkeeper, who did well to deflect the ball away from the goal post.

Following this victory, Colombia secured the top position in Group B, while the opening match defeat resulted in Germany dropping to the bottom. In the second match of the day Mexico and New Zealand settled for a 1-1 draw to earn a point each.
