An Abuja Federal High Court on Tuesday, granted the convener of the #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore bail.
According to Sahara Reporters, Justice Taiwo Taiwo said there was no longer a subsisting order holding Sowore in detention, hence the need to grant him bail.
Justice Taiwo, however, told Sowore to submit his international passport to the court while releasing him to his lawyer, Femi Falana who told the court to release Sowore, promising to produce him in court for future hearings.
Falana argued that there was no basis for keeping him in detention since the order of 45 days granted to the Department of State Services (DSS) had expired and there was no application for extension.
Falana said, “Since the order has expired and l therefore urge the court to make a consequential order and release him. If the court wants him, I will produce him.”
