Africa has recorded over 5,400 deaths due to complications arising from COVID-19.
According to the latest number released by the World Health Organization, WHO, regional office for Africa in Brazzaville, Congo, there are 5,486 deaths recorded on the continent.
Africa has also recorded over 200,000 COVID-19 cases and 90,000 recoveries in 54 countries.
As of Wednesday morning, Sudan is now ahead of Nigeria with 372 reported deaths, while Africa’s most populous nation has recorded 365 reported deaths, fifth-highest on the continent.
Egypt has 1,271 reported deaths, the highest on the continent, followed by South Africa with 1,162 deaths, and Algeria with 724 deaths.
Other countries are Cameroon (215 deaths), Morocco (208 deaths), Mali (94 deaths), DR Congo (90 deaths), Kenya (88 deaths), Somalia (85 deaths), Chad (71 deaths) and Niger (65 deaths).
