The coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro has extended an invitation to Smouha tricky and pacy winger Sodiq Awujoola for the upcoming friendly game against Costa Rica.
According to an announcement on the official page of the team, the 21 year old has been summoned to be a part of the senior national team of Nigeria for the game on the 10th of November in San Jose. A testament to his growth since he moved to the Egyptian side.
Peseiro won’t have the full compliment of his regular foreign based players for the game as it coincides with most of them rounding up their final round of games ahead of the break for the world cup. The idea is to call up players who are doing well and will be available for the game. Awujoola is the first to be confirmed as invited for the game.
Awujoola who in 2019 played in Nigeria Professional Football League side Shooting Stars was the second highest goal scorer in the Egyptian league last season with seven goals and two assists in 26 games.
Comfortable as a winger or second striker his two footed nature makes it hard for defenders to know how to stop him when in full flight. Already there are talks that he might not end the season playing in Egypt or maybe move to Al Ahly from Smouha.
