The battle for the international future of on loan Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun has been narrowed down to just two countries in Nigeria and England, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Balogun who has ten goals in Ligue 1 where he is on loan to Reims is eligible for Nigeria, England and the United States of America at senior level but he is presently a youth international for England.
However while speaking on his senior international future, he confirmed he is open to the idea of representing all three countries, he made this known in an interview with BBC last year.
” Nigeria is very close to my heart. I haven’t heard anything from Nigeria, but I’m open to anything because Nigeria is very close to my heart,” he was quoted as saying
” My family’s from there. I always have love for Nigeria. That’s a conversation that I need to have with people around me, my agent and obviously my family.
“But if I was asked about the opportunity to play for Nigeria, then I can have that conversation. But first, I need to be asked.
However sources close to the forward revealed he is only considering Nigeria and England at the moment and doesn’t feel he stands a chance with the United States of America at the moment.
” It’s between Nigeria and England and he will make a decision at the end of this season. His club future needs to be sorted out and then international football at senior level. For now he will continue representing England until at least he gets a call from Nigeria then we can have a conversation”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
