Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is set for a £2.5million-a-year pay rise at the club, the UK Mirror reports.

His new deal will see the 48-year-old extend his stay at Old Trafford for another three years.

Solskjaer, who currently earns £7.5m-a-year, is set to put pen on paper on a new £30m deal that will span three seasons.

It is understood there is no requirement for the Norwegian to win a trophy this season, with United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, convinced the club are on the right track.

Solskjaer has one year left on his current deal and has led the Red Devils to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, as well as second place in the Premier League.

United chiefs do not want the distraction of Solskjaer having one year left on his contract to be a running theme next season and have moved to extend his current deal now.

It is expected that the deal will be announced at the end of the current campaign.
