Incoming Manchester United manager, Ralf Rangnick, has requested to speak to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s old coaching staff, Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna, before deciding the make-up of his Red Devils coaching staff.

According to The Athletic, Rangnick will meet with Carrick and McKenna in the coming days as he has already requested at least one new coach to add to his coaching staff.

The report added that the 63-year-old would also be allowed to bring in two of his trusted assistants, with Lars Kornetka – who worked with him at Hoffenheim, Schalke and RB Leipzig – set to join his long-time friend at Old Trafford as his right-hand man.

Rangnick is on the verge of becoming Man United’s interim manager until the end of the current season.

The former RB Leipzig manager has reached an agreement with Man United on a six-month contract and will then take up a two-year consultancy role.

The German has a history of developing coaches and Man United feel they have already invested a lot of time, resources and money into Carrick and McKenna and do not want to see that go to waste, with the pair potentially even joining the permanent manager’s staff next summer.
