Fulham defender Tosin Adarabiyio has been handed a Nigerian passport paving the way for the 25 year old to play for the senior national team of Nigeria, if he decides to switch allegiance to the senior national team of Nigeria, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Adarabiyio has represented England at several youth levels but he hasn’t been capped by the senior national team making him eligible to switch to Nigeria, the country where his father hails from.
Despite inviting the technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Austine Eguavoen to England last season, sources close to the camp of the player say he is still undecided on pledging his future to Nigeria.
Even though he now has a Nigerian passport, we gathered that he is yet to start the process of switching nationality with an application to FIFA making an immediate switch to the Super Eagles highly unlikely. The same can not be said about his future at Fulham, where he has his mind made up on leaving.
French Ligue 1 side Monaco are keen on his signing with the hope that they can sign him on a cheap with a year left on his deal. Coach of Fulham Marco Silva is however hopeful on keeping the Nigerian, believing that he can talk him into signing an extension.
