Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Okoduwa has expressed his excitement over the invitation of his son to the U18 of England, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Okoduwa who was a household name in Ukraine between 2002 and 2006, where he scored 32 goals in 200 top division games shared his excitement on Instagram, assuring his son Wesley that he will be by him all through the process of becoming a professional footballer.

” Congratulations son on your call up to the England Team. We are super proud of U. God is the greatest”, he wrote on his son who plays for the youth team of English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wesley had his break last season with the U18s of Wolves playing in 23 games, ten more than the amount of games he played in his debut season at the club.

The former First Bank forward was a member of the Super Eagles squad during the qualifiers for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, with his debut coming in the second half of the game against Lesotho. That game was his only appearance in the colours of Nigeria.

His son will likely not follow in his footsteps if he makes the step up to the senior national team of England.
