Residents of Yobe State have been charged to expose and report anybody involved in Gender Based Violence, (GBV), to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
Executive Chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, Salisu Muktari, gave the charge at a two-day training and capacity building on GBV for some 50 identified survivors in Potiskum town on Tuesday.
Represented by his Vice Adamu Hamza Ngojin, the Chairman was impressed with the turnout of participants at the important training. “It is a symbol of commitment and success towards ensuring a peaceful society”.
He used the forum to appeal to the participants to always report cases of GBV to the appropriate authorities for necessary support and actions
“I am appealing to you to change from the culture of hiding the cases of GBV, it will not augur well to the victims, report immediately for a prompt response.”
He, therefore, urged the participants to concentrate fully on the training in order to benefit the general public on the effects of GBV and other related abuses.

the training was born out of the desire to nip the wave of Gender Based Violence (GBV) cases in the bud.
While giving out the overview of the programme, the WOYEIN Gender Officer, Hajiya Asabe Abdullahi applauded the participants for attending the workshop which according to her will enrich their knowledge on the concept of GBV.
She explained that these organizations are non-political, non-profit and non-governmental determined to care for the molested and abused youths and Women in society.
