Cyriel Dessers is set to return to Belgium side Genk at the end of the season when his loan deal at Dutch side Feyenoord comes to an end.
Dessers scored his ninth league goal of the season last weekend in the defeat against FC Twente, but it’s more likely that he has played his last league game for the club as they are unsure if they will be able to sign him permanently.
The 27 year old who is presently the top scorer in the Europa Conference League with ten goals which has propelled them to the final where they will face AS Roma has a clause for Feyenoord to sign him for €4m at the end of his loan deal.
“We know what we have to pay if we want to capture him. It seems clear to me that we would like to see that, but that also depends on him,” coach of Feyenoord Arne Slot said.
“A lot of interest? Don’t just think in him. But after such a season it is possible that we are not the only club. We are not only dependent on our current financial possibilities, but also on what choice he wants to make.”
For Dessers he said he is entirely relaxed about his future as he has his sight on the Europa Conference League final against Roma saying only after then will he have a usit with his representative to talk about his future.
“Everyone is working on the Conference League final. I think it will indeed be lifted over the final. Then we will sit down and we’ll see,” the striker told ESPN .
