The senior national team of Nigeria suffered a drop in the latest ranking of football countries released by world football governing body FIFA on its official website.

Although they are still in the top five football nations in Africa, they are no longer third but fourth in the rankings. Still below Senegal, Morocco and Tunisia and only ahead of Algeria in the top five for Africa.

In the world they are now 32nd as opposed to the last time out when they were ranked 30th in the world. However they are still ranked higher than top football countries like Russia, Algeria, Greece, Turkey, Cote D’Ivoire among others.

It means the 1-2 loss to Algeria in the only friendly game they played during the last international break didn’t quite prove costly although it is responsible for their drop in the latest ranking.

Their next game will be against the senior national team of Portugal, who are ranked 9th per the latest ranking. Brazil still remains the number one ranked nation in the world. Belgium is in second place with Argentina , France and England rounding up the top five.
