A fire incident destroyed property estimated at N23.8 million on Saturday in the Alfa Yahaya area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

The fire affected seven flats and two shops at No 5, Ado Compound.

It razed three of the seven flats while the two shops were completely destroyed with items.

Head of Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, said men of the fire service worked excellently to minimise the damage caused by the fire.

He said, “However, the firemen were able to perform excellently well to minimise the damage, therefore other rooms in the building, including many tangible properties, were saved from the scathed fire.”

He noted that the cause of the fire was traced to the power surge in the area.

“Total estimated property saved is N47.4 million and total estimated property lost is N23.8 million,” Adekunle said.
