In a rare love story, footballer, Jeff Hardeveld and referee Shona Shukrula confirmed their relationship on social media. They met after he was red carded.
Shukrula is one of the most highly rated officials in the Dutch game.
Their story began when they met during a football match in August 2021 when Shukrula was the fourth official in the Eerste Divisie clash in which Hardeveld was sent off.
He then bumped into his future girlfriend after seeing red, marking the start of their relationship.
30-year-old Shukrula became a FIFA qualified referee in 2017. In 2020, she began fourth official duties in the Dutch second division.
