Jethro Akun, former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, is dead.

Akun, 76, was an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) awardee.

He served as Commissioner in Ministries of Information and Communication, as well as Youths and Sports.

Akun, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state chairman, was appointed as Deputy Governor to then Acting Governor Michael Botmang after Joshua Dariye was impeached in November 2006.

Governor Simon Lalong has condoled with the family.

Lalong prayed that God rests Akun’s soul and comfort those who mourn him.

Plateau Speaker, Abok Ayuba, said the deceased exhibited diligence, honesty and patriotism during his lifetime.

The lawmaker added that said Akun’s contribution to the development of Plateau and Nigeria would be missed.
