Grab Napoli chance, shun racism hints

Golden Eaglets assistant coach, Nduka Ugbade, has urged Lille striker, Victor Osimhen to grab the opportunity of playing for Napoli and he should forget about the racism hints.

Ugbade said advised Osimhen to look straight at where he is going and he should not yield to any unnecessary distraction that would deny him the chance of playing at the bigger stage of his career.

“Racism is everywhere in Europe and Serie A did not tolerate that nonsense. They fight against it always because there are black players in the league. FIFA and UEFA are also supporting them to fight racism. Osimhen should not use racism as an excuse, he should focus on where he’s going for now,” he said.

Osimhen has been contemplating about the Napoli offers since he visited the club with league of agents on his neck to accept the deal.

“Every good player needs an opportunity to market himself irrespective of where the offer is coming from and he’s fortunate to play in the top leagues now Serie A. He should move and earn himself more respect and more money,” Ugbade said.

Osimhen will sign for Napoli over the next 48 hours, according to Football Italia, as the problem was always with his agent, who is now threatening to sue the Lille striker.

Multiple sources including L’Equipe claim that final negotiations are taking place today and tomorrow in Sardinia to secure the deal, worth in the region of €81m.

The Corriere dello Sport maintain it’ll be €50m cash plus full-back Adam Ounas to cover the difference.

Our sources close to Osimhen confirm the issue that had prompted him to turn down Napoli last week was with his entourage and that was smoothed over by the arrival of a new intermediary.

Now those same sources confirm – as is also reported by RAI Sport and CalcioNapoli24 – that the previous agent was trying to negotiate extra bonuses for himself rather than focusing on the best deal for the player.

The agent will be sacked and is now threatening to sue Osimhen.

Radio Punto Nuovo also states that Osimhen has joined the negotiations on Lille President Gerard Lopez’s yacht off the coast of Sardinia.

By all accounts, he could have his medical with Napoli on Thursday.
