Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro says he is still open to having more players in the team ahead of the start of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Aside the Africa Cup of Nations, the team is also shaping up for the start of the World Cup qualifiers in November with two friendly games against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique respectively lined up in Portugal.
Peseiro isn’t depending on the players at his disposal saying there is always room for new players to come into the team and either compliment those in the team or challenge for their spot.
He said it was during one of his many scoutings that he discovered Victor Boniface, who he now sees as a potential partner for the team’s first choice top striker Victor Osimhen, in his favoured two man attack.
“He is a player that last season I already evaluated on video through the Scout platform. Then I traveled to Belgium to talk to him, learn about him, the objectives he has and explain the objectives we have, he said.
” I liked how he played and with the evaluation we have of him and what he told us about his willingness to play with us. He was doing very well in Belgium. My surprise is that he is doing very well in Germany because it is a Top-5 league. It’s sticking out and bursting it. Let’s hope he continues to play very well in Germany”, he concluded.
